Ojibwe Longnose - Commissioned by Big Canoe Resort to be displayed in the hotel lobby. 7'6" long, 17" beam, 7" deep, 12" stem height, all cedar and is a feather to lift.







Ojibwe Oldstyle 14' Hunting Canoe - 14' long, 34" beam, 12.5" deep, 21" stem height, white ash gunwales, black ash thwarts, cedar ribs and sheathing.






16 ft Ojibwe Longnose - Built for Rivard Productions in Winnepeg, Manitoba this canoe was paddled in a TV program from Thunder Bay to Winnepeg by two historical re-enactors. It is photographed here with no pitch because it was pitch once it reached Thunder Bay. It is 16ft long, 36 inch beam, 13" deep at center and a 21" prow height. It is formed from a single sheet of bark for the hull with ash gunwales and thwarts.



Ojibwe Oldstyle Canoe - Like the canoe above this one too was paddled from Thunder Bay to Winnepeg. It is 16ft long, 36" beam 13" deep at center, 24" prow height, ash thwarts and the hull is of a single sheet of bark.




26' Fur Trade "North Canoe" - This canoe was paddled from Montreal to Thunder Bay as part of a French Canadian TV program. The load included 9 paddlers and all of their gear. The hull was formed with an 18' sheet of bark in the center plus two additional sheets - one at each end to complete it. Length is 26', beam is 56", depth at center 20.5", prow height 40", douglas fir gunwales, and black ash thwarts.
